First Day of School

Aiden and Dec started school a week and a half ago. I know it is a cliche, but time really does fly. On some days it feels like it was just yesterday that I came home from the hospital with my sweet little bundles. I miss those days when they were so tiny and delicious...but then I remember the sleep deprivation and return to my senses.

For those of you who may not know, Aiden was diagnosed as being on the Autistic Spectrum this last December. As you might imagine it has been an interesting and at times painful journey as we navigate ourselves through these uncharted waters. We made the decision to retain Aiden in kindergarten this year to give him an opportunity to receive a traditional, structured, Kindergarten education, rather than the Montessori, student-driven environment he was in last year. We are excited about some of the progress that we are seeing thus far! After a very drawn out process of having Aiden evaluated through the school system, they were not able to "code" him as having Autism. Basically, they were undecided. This means Aiden does not qualify for some of the services that would possibly benefit him. As parents that deeply love our child, we were concerned that because Aiden was on the 'mild' side of the spectrum, that Aiden might 'fall through the cracks'. So, we are scheduled to visit with a pediatric neurologist to hopefully confirm the diagnosis, possibly look at a different diagnosis such as Auditory Processing Disorder, or even better...put this whole thing to rest!
We are hopeful, and we know that God is sovereign over Aiden's life. We know that this diagnosis is not a surprise to God. We are confident that He has a plan and purpose for Aiden and we put our lives, our sorrows, our concerns, and our trust in Him. So we continue to pray...

Hey Erin!

I stumbled across your blog and i am so glad I did. That video made me tear up....can't believe that they grow and change so fast.

We have been praying for Aiden since you told us about him last January. Sorry we haven't been able to get together. I can only imagine how busy life is with 2, as it is hopping around here with just one.

Don't know if you've stumbled on ours as well, but we have a blog too...I think it's linked from Heather's.

Tell Don we said "hey!". We'll be praying for the next round of tests....Take care!!
