First Day of School

Aiden and Dec started school a week and a half ago. I know it is a cliche, but time really does fly. On some days it feels like it was just yesterday that I came home from the hospital with my sweet little bundles. I miss those days when they were so tiny and delicious...but then I remember the sleep deprivation and return to my senses.

For those of you who may not know, Aiden was diagnosed as being on the Autistic Spectrum this last December. As you might imagine it has been an interesting and at times painful journey as we navigate ourselves through these uncharted waters. We made the decision to retain Aiden in kindergarten this year to give him an opportunity to receive a traditional, structured, Kindergarten education, rather than the Montessori, student-driven environment he was in last year. We are excited about some of the progress that we are seeing thus far! After a very drawn out process of having Aiden evaluated through the school system, they were not able to "code" him as having Autism. Basically, they were undecided. This means Aiden does not qualify for some of the services that would possibly benefit him. As parents that deeply love our child, we were concerned that because Aiden was on the 'mild' side of the spectrum, that Aiden might 'fall through the cracks'. So, we are scheduled to visit with a pediatric neurologist to hopefully confirm the diagnosis, possibly look at a different diagnosis such as Auditory Processing Disorder, or even better...put this whole thing to rest!
We are hopeful, and we know that God is sovereign over Aiden's life. We know that this diagnosis is not a surprise to God. We are confident that He has a plan and purpose for Aiden and we put our lives, our sorrows, our concerns, and our trust in Him. So we continue to pray...

Declan Turns 3!!

Declan turned three on August 6th. It truly is amazing how quickly time passes. He and his sweet friend , Baker were born on the same day, in the same hospital, just two hours apart. The Jorgs and the Coleman's were just a few doors down the hall and had no idea we'd all be celebrating Baker and Dec's third year of life together! Pretty cool.
D and B invited some friends, enjoyed their petting zoo, and their delicious cupcakes...oh, and if you can believe it, they didn't plan their outfits!
Thank you to Ashleigh and Carter. It was an honor to be able to share in one of your family's special days.

10 Years!!!

Happy Anniversary Don and Erin!
Wow! 10 years...quite an accomplishment! It has truly been a blessing to be on this journey with you D. It was also a blessing to be able to get away for three days. The Four Seasons Resort in Scottsdale is a force to be reckoned with. Pure excellence. The desert is usually portrayed to be hot and dry but I always experience it to be a restorative sanctuary. In fact, I would love to retire at the Four Seasons...right now.

Ventura HWY.

I love that song by America. It feels like, and sounds like the essence of California with all my history and memories wrapped up into a sweet melodic tune. I was able to go back to Cali in July by myself sans children and hubby. What a special gift it was! Thank you Don. We all had a grand time!

Fall Is Here

I'm quite sure that fall is my favorite time of year. We had a cold front move in two days ago. It reminded me of how much I love the cool, crisp air, football season, anticipation of the holidays, brisk walks on cold mornings sipping on an eggnog latte, the aroma of clove, cinnamon, pumpkin, and pine, special visits with friends and families. I am so thankful for these.

I am also so thankful for my two little ones...Aiden and Declan. Aiden is not so little anymore. He just celebrated his 6th birthday on October 29th. He wanted to have a jumping party at one of those bounce house places. He, and ten of his friends from school had a blast jumping and bouncing, and wrestling. What is it with little boys and tackling each other? The party lasted just two hours but Don and I were wiped out for the rest of the weekend. We're getting old. No... our kids are making us old.

By Halloween night both Aiden and Declan had developed Bronchitis and were on antibiotics. Aiden was desperate to wear his Sir Peter Knight of Narnia costume but was so sick. We managed to take them down one street and called it a night. I really wanted Aiden to stay out longer to get my money's worth on the costume I bought. He wore it for about 20 minutes! Being a good huband, Don reminded me that it wasn't about me. I'm so glad I have him to reflect back to me my little ugly heart lol.

The Jorg Clan hits O.C.

As they say in Texas...Hi Y'all. We recently got an opportunity to vacation with our boys out in California. After a two day visit with Grandpa and Nonna at Disneyland, we headed south to our old stomping grounds...the beautiful Rancho Santa Margarita. It was so grand to visit with our family, and finally introduce Declan, to see the ocean, and the mountains. We feel refreshed. Upon returning home, we recognized how much we missed our family and thought it would be a good idea to stay in touch. We decided to create our family blog with updates and photos. Hope you enjoy and thanks for visiting. We love you all.
